Congratulations to Nancy Trice, TEL’s Trainer of the Month for April! Nancy is the Library Information Specialist at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga. Nancy says, “I’m a TEL trainer because I believe in giving back,” and she has put this belief into action. When trainers have been needed most, she has been here to help. Nancy even traveled to Bledsoe County for TEL! In addition, she promotes awareness of TEL’s resources by actively putting her students in front of TEL databases.
Nancy is enthusiastically grateful for what she has learned from TEL. She says, “I have received excellent training via the TEL workshops with additional pointers and updates at break-out sessions at TSAL and TLA conferences. It is only right that I should share my training with others; after all, isn't that what librarianship is all about?” Nancy’s approach is a refreshing reminder of our core values.
When Nancy is training others, she especially enjoys demonstrating the TEL shortcuts. She says, “They really streamline the process of locating the right vendor for the task at hand,” which can be a problem for so many users. She also likes the Tool Box in the Gale K-12 Databases, which she describes as “Invaluable, especially to the student researcher.” Nancy also likes to point out the research guides in EBSCO’s Points of View because she thinks these are often overlooked. She says, “I show these to students and faculty alike for pointers about how to prepare a final product.”
Nancy’s knowledge of TEL and generous spirit of service are helping Tennessee’s students and teachers learn and improve their work. Thank you, Nancy.
